Today I emailed V Gallesi about Pelly. I’d guess that she got pulled out of class, the way she behaving at home today. She really should concentrate on her studies, and not arriving to school late everyday.
23.5
Pelly told me about this 3D holograph pool that some friend in school has. It sounds good and I think we should get one.
Heard Pelly and Gim bickering just now. Apparently Gim wrote “Pelly D’s a loser” on the computer screensaver and Pelly didn’t know how to change it.
29.5
I got the quote for the holograph pool. Their father’s reaction was that when he was young, he didn’t have it and grew up normally. Pelly D looked doubtful about the ‘normal’ part. Well, he can’t exactly be blamed. He grew up in a financially-challenged family and worked his way up, and didn’t have all the luxuries that Pelly has now. Anyway, today has been great for me other than the pool argument. I worked in a tank of clay. It’s called Kinetic Set Art, though some people just refer to it as mud.

Pelly was looking so excited yesterday that I was rather curious as to why. Now, I know. She’s invited by that Linveki boy to go to some party at their house. I said ‘No parties if you don’t get your classes sorted’ and she grumbled the whole day.
38.5
Pelly actually passed her test! I think it’s just for the sake of the party, but at least she didn’t try to sneak out of the house to go to the party. She also got a ‘B’ for her history paper. So I let her go.
Today’s news was horrible! Pelly told me not to watch it but I wanted to keep in touch with the real world. And her reply was ridiculous, something like “I know what’s going on in the world – my world.”
Seriously, Pelly is getting too spoilt for her own good.
13.6
Hmmm…Maybe it wasn’t such a good idea to let Pelly go to the party. I overheard the little one ask Pelly if kissing was nice…
14.6
Pelly has been looking upset these few days. I wonder why. She asked me something – I forgot, but it was something about the gene families. She seems to have a personal grudge against the Atsumisi. Maybe she has broken up with that Linveki boy…
15.6
The Linveki boy – Ant Li, apparently – came over to our house today. Pelly looked furious when Dad welcomed him in happily. He does business with the Linveki family, so who’s to wonder why?
The Holograph pool finally arrived. It had to be ordered from overseas, and took three weeks of waiting for it to arrive. It looks positively comfortable to lounge in. I’m glad I managed to badger Dad into buying it.
29.6
Pelly’s sad – Sassy B and her family are ordered to go to City One because Sassy B’s mother has to work on one of the irrigation projects, something about computers and simulations. They left today.
32.6
Pelly was sick today. I turned up the temperature of the pool for her and left her to soak and watch television.
49.6
I have a skull sticker thing on one of my toes. I saw it on my friend’s toes and I thought that I was cute so I gave it a try but Pelly seems disgusted about it. Sometimes, I really wonder what goes on in their minds these days.
Anyway this isn’t the main point. Pelly wants to have her nose pierced. NO WAY am I going to let her do that. She already has had her belly and ears pierced so how much metal should one have on their bodies? I really don’t understand her. And due to this argument, we’re not on speaking terms.
6.9
Haven’t written for months! Well, there hasn’t been much going on anyway. Problems at Pelly’s school about the compulsory blood tests. Then the V Gallesi got on the news about some scam. She seems to have disappeared.
Anyway, their father wanted Pelly to join the school testing program. I would NEVER allow that to happen. But that brilliant arse of a mule sent in samples of our family for the stupid gene tests! I walked out after an argument with him.
9.9
Pelly’s Galrezi. I snuck back home and found out. I comforted her and the little one but I can’t believe it. They’re all Galrezi. And it’s my entire fault. I’m the green carrier. The kids are mad at their father, I don’t blame them, I’m mad at him too. Why did he have to send in the samples? WHY? And he dares blame me for passing the Galrezi genes to them. Like I can help being a frikin’ Galrezi! He has the nerve to look relieved when he found out that he was not Galrezi, like the rest of his family. Perhaps he’s going to disown us or something. This is just an enormous headache; I’m going to explode with frustration soon.
13.9
Pelly seems to have gotten over the horrification of being Galrezi. But their father just has to go on and on about it, blaming me for everything. WHAT is wrong with him? It’s not like anything can change if he continues his blaming. He is such a baboon’s backside.
14.9
Pelly came back with bags of buys. Both her father and I scolded her about wasting money. Obviously he had a different reason. He dared say that times were difficult and business was dropping. But both I and possibly Pelly know that his business has just got better after he’d been confirmed to be Atsumisi. For once I support Pelly’s arguments against him. He shouldn’t behave this way just because we’re Galrezi. That is no reason.
22.9
Things just got worst. We got a notice that Gim is to leave for City One to work on aqueducts. Supposedly they get nice apartments with good water rations, but seriously, I doubt it. I am NOT going to let him go. He doesn’t want to go either. Their father got his gills in a twist at that. Gim went right up to him and said that he isn’t going to City One, but he isn’t staying here too! Oh dear, what would I do without my son?
23.9
Gim left! I should think he left to go overseas. Well, better there than City One.
3.10
I made Pelly pack ‘essentials and valuables’ only. As expected, she made a scene of looking horrified at the thought of packing everything into a small bag. She left mumbling and grumbling. We have to leave for the new apartment tomorrow night. We’re going to the ‘Artists’ Quarter, just opposite our house. Their father has to stay and look after the house while us Galrezi have to move. Poor him.
There is something seriously wrong with him. He doesn’t get that we being Galrezi doesn’t mean that we’re not his family. All he thinks of now is that HE is Atsumisi and WE are Galrezi. Pelly’s complaining, but in truth, I’m really excited to go there. People like us will be together and we won’t be looked down on (e.g. by their father) anymore.
4.10
The new apartment’s much smaller, but it’s livable. The pool’s on the rooftop and the kitchens in the basement. Their father sent donuts and milkshakes over, but we’ll have to be living on takeaway food for a while first.
10.10
I had to stretch a piece of fine cloth over the windows so that insects could not come in, but we could keep the windows open for ventilation. At least Pelly seems grateful for a change.
12.10
Demo at the Plaza
21.10
Pelly brought a GUY home. What is she thinking? But he does deserve sympathy, with his parents gone and guardian sent to City One, he sleeps on the streets because he got kicked out of his apartment. I still don’t like him though. She let him have her room while she sleeps in the little one’s room.
22.10
Pelly is so tactless. She asked the boy (Marek T, I found out) if he had clean clothes. That is just RUDE. Anyway he didn’t and Pelly lent him some blue sarong of hers.
31.10
It’s practically war out there. Thankfully the O-HA has finally responded. They’re sending a peace-keeping task force.
35.10
We had to go back to the house to pick up more stuff that we left because that guy has his colleagues over and they probably don’t have space for their own things. It was awful.
4.1
A friend of Gim’s came over with news about Gim. Gim’s arrived in Overseas and have joined O-HA. I had to fetch food from the kitchen as he didn’t want to be caught on the CCTVs
19.1
Everyone’s gills are looking dry and flaky. The water rations are not enough for sure.
21.1
Water rations doubled due to more families moving to other Cities.
22.1
School cancelled. Marek T has to stay hidden because his draft notice was on the Big Screen today. No one officially knows where he is.
25.1
I’ve been feeling unwell, so Pelly has to take over most of the water duties. I gave half of our moisturizer cream supply to a neighbor. They’re in a state way worse than us. No rain for days already.
34.1
IT RAINED! In the middle of the night! Many people rushed up to the roof to celebrate. Then there was a scramble to get any sort of containers we had to collect the rain water
53.1
They’re clearing the block. We can pack only one bag and we have to leave. They’re exporting us, not on working programmes, but something else and we don’t know what it is. Oh and Marek T and Pelly seems to have something going on.
This is probably the last time I am writing this. I hope I get back to see this again but I highly doubt it. I’m burying this in the Plaza. Everyone’s doing that. A bit risky now though.
